FAQs

There is a technical data sheet for all ADLER products – you can find these here. These data sheets contain the most important product information, such as:

  • General information about the product and its processing.
  • Possible areas of application and substrates.
  • Correct substrate pretreatment and suitable primers.
  • Information about the application technique and the correct coating structure.
  • Information about yield, suitable dilution and drying times.

Products with "oxidative drying" require oxygen from the ambient air for drying or curing. These are mostly synthetic resin paints or transparent wood finishes ("alkyd resins") or oils & waxes.

It is therefore particularly important to ensure a sufficient supply of fresh air when processing products that dry oxidatively.

ADLER products that dry oxidatively are, besides the classic synthetic resin paints e.g. also Pullex transparent wood finishes or the Legno products.

If the drying time of an ADLER product lasts considerably longer than stated on the trading unit or the technical data sheet, there can be several reasons for this.
The drying of a paint or transparent wood finish, for example, depends on the respective substrate, the thickness of the applied layer, the temperature, the air exchange and the relative humidity.

Low temperatures and/or high humidity can increase the drying time. Please do not go below the minimum temperature specified on the trading unit or in the technical data sheet during processing.
On types of woods rich in active substances (such as oak or teak) there may also be a delay in drying.

Especially products that dry oxidatively are very sensitive to these "external influences". A delayed or slower drying time is usually not a defect of the product, but can be explained by one of the above mentioned factors.

When coating mineral floors (concrete, screed), substrate testing and pretreatment play an important role. It is particularly important here to check the stability and the absorption properties of the floor to be coated in advance.

Our water-based product ADLER Beton-Siegel can be used for indoor floors subject to normal stress, such as cellars or staircases. Our product ADLER 2K-Epoxi-Beschichtung is ideally suited for more heavily used areas such as garage floors, workshops, factory halls, etc.

Further tips on substrate testing, pretreatment and processing of the products are shown in our user video: Watch now
