FAQs

Many ADLER products – whether wall paints or wood protection products – are available in a wide variety of colours or can even be universally tinted. Our ADLER Farbenmeister have colour samples and colour fans available where you can choose from many different collections.

Since the colour shown on the screen (digital) can often be deceptive, it is advisable to inspect and select the colours at the specialist retailer on site.

Please note that especially transparent colours depend very much on the respective substrate and the application quantity (layer thickness) of the product.

We therefore recommend that a test coat be applied to assess the final colour.

Due to the natural weathering in outdoor areas – in other words due to UV light from the sun and due to rain – paints and transparent wood finishes as well as the pigments they contain are broken down over time. As a result, the colour of the surface also changes.

This natural process is normal and can only be prevented by carrying out maintenance measures in good time.

Surfaces can also change indoors due to UV light. This is particularly noticeable with colourless coatings, as the wood in the substrate is changed by the UV light – this is also referred to as "yellowing".

Colourless coatings offer very little protection against the UV radiation of sunlight. Especially in outdoor areas, colourless coatings can therefore only delay natural weathering / greying, but not permanently prevent it.

If colourless coatings are nevertheless chosen, very short renovation intervals are to be expected.

A significantly longer shelf life can be achieved by using pigmented transparent wood finish colours.
