Earthy tones in soft light
The more than 400-year-old Mitterhart Castle in Vomp, Tyrol, has been extended to include a boutique hotel. Coatings from ADLER were used to implement a subtle design concept that skilfully combines historical heritage with modern elegance.
The old Gwercher farmstead on the castle grounds, including stables and barn, served as the residence of the Mair family, who are now in their sixth generation of running Schloss Mitterhart as a place of enjoyment and hospitality. The entire building was recently carefully converted into a boutique hotel with 28 rooms and suites, a reception area, lounge bar and seminar rooms. A stylish retreat was created on the historic foundations using sustainable timber construction methods, skilfully referencing the historic ambience. Thanks to a thoughtful choice of colours and materials, romantic nobility has been transformed into contemporary elegance.
Warm earth tones
"Clean lines, earthy, calm colours and high-quality materials characterise our new boutique hotel," say owners Yvonne and Andreas Mair. The walls and ceilings were designed in a light beige-grey clay colour – Aviva Ultra-Color SD from ADLER proved to be the perfect choice for this. The wall paint with Smart Dry technology ensures deep matt, streak-free coatings with maximum covering power and impressive colour depth. The premium dispersion paint really comes into its own in challenging lighting situations and on ultra-smooth surfaces – a decisive factor for the Mitterhart project, where targeted lighting design conveys an atmosphere of comfort and warmth. The Achleitner painting company from Kundl used the newly developed product from Austria's leading paint manufacturer ADLER, which has its headquarters just a few kilometres from Mitterhart Castle in neighbouring Schwaz.
Dark reminiscence
It is therefore not surprising that other contractors also relied on their trusted regional partner: ADLER's Aduro Legnopur varnish in matt gloss level G10 was used for the light oak furniture from the Hirzinger joinery in Schwaz. The same was true for the interior doors, which were contributed by the Salzburger joinery in Kramsach, another processor of ADLER coatings. And the wooden façade was finished by Holzbau Höck from Kundl with Lignovit Platin in the colour Kawirbraun: the dark ADLER glaze finish cleverly bridges the gap between the farm's past and the hotel's present. Lovingly designed and equipped with state-of-the-art, sustainable technology such as photovoltaics and heat pumps, Schloss & Boutiquehotel Mitterhart offers a stylish setting for a truly historic stay!
