Oiled surfaces are popular. But how about giving them a very special look? Shimmering, iridescent, shiny – a stylish eye-catcher and elegant addition to modern living spaces. With the new Legno Metallic-Öl from ADLER, impressive effects can be achieved quickly and easily. The natural character of the wood is not covered up, but emphasised. But: Talking is silver, showing is gold! ADLER application expert Stefan Oberladstätter presents step by step how to create this eye-catching, pore-emphasised look.

First of all: discover the possibilities!

Just a gentle silver shimmer on a dark surface or a hint of gold over a light wood tone? The great thing about Legno Metallic-Öl is that there are no limits to your imagination! The oil can be used directly on wood or over pigmented Primer coats such as Legno-Color or Legno Smart-Öl. In addition, the intensity of the metallic effect can be adjusted by mixing it with Legno Öl Colourless – simply add oil until you achieve the desired effect and, if in doubt, test it on a sample area beforehand.

Steps

    Step 1: Well primed

We opted for a structure with a pigmented Primer coat and then used Legno Smart-&Öl in the black shade Hades. This really brings out the metallic sheen. First, sand the wood with grain 180 and carefully remove the sanding dust. Stir the Legno Smart-Öl well so that the pigments rise to the surface and mix it in a ratio of 3:1 with the appropriate hardener. Apply the coating carefully, this works very well with rolling, but you can also use a brush or cotton cloth.

    Step 2: Perfectly sanded

You will achieve the best results if you carefully sand the Smart-Öl with a sanding pad or fine sanding fleece. Excess material is then wiped off with a cloth in the direction of the grain and thoroughly removed.

    Step 3a: First mix ...

After intermediate drying overnight,’s goes to the mica: Apply the well-stirred Metallic-Öl with a brush, cloth or oil pad.

    Step 3b: Silver or gold?

Incidentally, this cool shimmer also looks great in silver and is just as easy to apply.

    Step 4: … then wipe

Then it is wiped clean again. This brings out the natural pore structure particularly well.
