Together for nature and climate protection: ADLER Lacke is a new partner of the Karwendel Nature Park

The Karwendel Nature Park, located in the immediate vicinity of the ADLER plant in Schwaz, is the largest protected area in North Tyrol. With numerous projects, the nature park team is committed to the protection of fauna and flora, environmental education and climate-friendly development of the Alpine region. Thanks to ADLER's support, this offer can be further expanded in the future.

The Tyrolean family business ADLER has been committed to a "green paint economy" for generations: ADLER is a pioneer in low-emission water-based coatings, has continuously reduced the ecological footprint of its products and pursues a consistent roadmap forCO2 reduction. However, ADLER's commitment goes far beyond the "core business" of paint production: "Our understanding of sustainability also includes our commitment to Schwaz as the only production site where we create high-quality jobs and our social commitment in the region," explains ADLER Managing Director Andrea Berghofer. ADLER is now sending out another strong signal: From 2026, ADLER will start a cooperation with the Karwendel Nature Park.

Home of the ADLER

"The Karwendel Nature Park is an ideal partner for us," explains Andrea Berghofer: "The nature park team does an excellent job, the protected area is just a stone's throw away from the ADLER factory and is also the home of the golden eagle." But the similarities go even deeper, as Dr. Albert Rössler (Managing Director F&E and Sustainability Officer) explains: "We are united by the conviction that we must work with all our might to keep our unique natural and living environment intact for future generations. This requires not only protective measures, but also education, awareness-raising and research". The Karwendel Nature Park organizes environmental and climate education programmes for young and old and trains climate educators itself. There are also numerous research projects - for example on the question of what the "climate-friendly" mountain forest of the future could look like.

Living partnership

This offer is now being further strengthened: with the support of ADLER, a new further education course on mountain pasture management in a changing climate is being created and the "Junior Ranger" environmental education program is being expanded. In addition, ADLER is enabling the creation of a stepping stone biotope near the Kienberg near Jenbach: "We are creating an intact habitat here for animal and plant species that depend on dead wood - such as the tawny owl or insects like the rare Alpine longhorn beetle," explains Anton Heufelder, Managing Director of the Karwendel Nature Park. He has great expectations of the collaboration: "ADLER's support not only enables us to realize important projects. We also have a strong partner at our side who stands behind our concerns out of conviction." ADLER is also looking forward to the project, as many employees and customers are familiar with the Karwendel mountain landscape from excursions and hikes. Claudia Berghofer, Head of Corporate Communications at ADLER, says: "It is important to us to bring this cooperation to life. In collaboration with the nature park team, we will also be offering guided hikes for our employees and customers. Because experiencing our unique nature for yourself is the best incentive to fully commit to its preservation!"

ADLER – paint runs through our veins

With 730 employees, ADLER is Austria's leading manufacturer of varnishes, paints and wood preservatives. ADLER has sales subsidiaries in Germany, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia; their sole production site is the ADLER-Werk Lackfabrik in Schwaz, Tyrol (Austria). Innovation and sustainability are the cornerstones of the corporate strategy.
