Active for the climate

Environmental commitment is not just something that ADLER pays lip service to, but has been an integral element of our corporate strategy for decades. Together with other companies, ADLER has now been named by Federal Minister, Andrä Rupprechter, as an energy-efficient company and adopted into the "klimaaktiv" programme. This programme, brought to life by the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Water Management, and Environment, supports measures for climate protection, the reduction of harmful emissions and the increase in energy efficiency.

Target achieved and exceeded

For decades now, ADLER, Austria's leading paint manufacturer, has assumed a pioneering role in these fields: as a manufacturer of innovative water-based paints, the company makes an important contribution to the prevention of harmful solvent emissions. Over and above this, ADLER also takes numerous measures in the area of energy efficiency and is certified according to the energy management system, ISO 50001. The target of saving 45,000 kWh of electrical and thermal energy by 2019 will not only be achieved by ADLER, but far exceeded. This is thanks to many individual measures such as switching from fluorescent lighting to LED lights, a modern control technology for the ventilation control and insulated glazing on the facade. Another important measure is the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof of the newly built water-based paint factory and the modern high-bay warehouse, which will produce 131.000 kWh of clean electricity a year.

Learning from the best

With its adoption into the "klimaaktiv" programme, ADLER is now further intensifying its commitment to climate and environmental protection and benefiting from the extensive training, advice and networking opportunities offered by the platform, which has set itself the target of helping Austrian companies on their way to energy efficiency: "These companies are a driving force for the energy revolution. By means of energy-efficient production, not only are they protecting the environment but also saving costs. Environmentally friendly companies have a competitive edge over the long term," stressed Federal Minister Rupprechter on the occasion of the award ceremony.
