The new efficiency in Window Coatings: Aquawood Primo RSQ spray primer from ADLER

For industrial window manufacturers, the coating area is usually completely automated. A wide variety of application systems, complex drying systems and a digital control system ensure an efficient process. However, such systems are hardly profitable for commercial window manufacturers: the investment costs are too high, the space required too large and the operation too complicated. This is why windows are often painted by hand - a demanding job that requires time, space and, above all, trained personnel. "The shortage of skilled workers and efficiency in the production process are among the most important challenges facing the industry," says Richard Mölk, head of the window division at ADLER. ADLER now offers a solution to this: the window application technology team at ADLER-F&E has developed an innovative concept that also enables commercial window manufacturers to achieve an efficient coating process in line with industrial standards. With the new Aquawood Primo RSQ ("Robot Spray Quality") primer coat, it is now possible for the first time to apply the entire coating structure for wood and wood-aluminum windows as well as for lift-and-slide elements and front doors using a spraying robot.

Gain in time & quality

While conventional primer coats are applied by flow coating or dipping, this step is superfluous with Aquawood Primo RSQ - a decisive advantage, explains Matthias Stötzel, head of the application technology competence center for the window sector at ADLER: "A painting robot is a manageable investment, the space required in the workshop is small, operation is uncomplicated - and the increase in efficiency is enormous." Once programmed, the robot carries out its work independently, precisely and cleanly. There is no need for cumbersome maneuvering of the windows, intermediate sanding is carried out very simply on the hanging part, and paint splashes on work clothes are a thing of the past. A color change is done in a few minutes, the cleaning effort is just as minimal as the amount of waste water. Another decisive advantage is the high surface quality: "Aquawood Primo RSQ produces an absolutely uniform, cloud-free surface finish with glazed colors," explains Stötzel.

Automation made easy

Aquawood Primo RSQ enables automation with little effort but maximum flexibility, emphasizes Richard Mölk: "The spray primer is suitable for all types of wood and any surface quality, for agent-free structures as well as for coatings with wood preservatives - in this case, the window scantlings are simply treated with a colourless impregnation in advance." He is convinced that the new ADLER coating concept will make life much easier for many window manufacturers: "Our spray primer combines the best of both worlds: It enables the efficiency of industrial production processes together with the flexibility of commercial manufacturers - with little effort and lasting benefits!"
