Eco? Logical! Lignovit Terra from ADLER inspires timber builders, planners and architects

Naturalness and sustainability are the key issues of our time. In the timber construction sector in particular, a great deal of importance is attached to environmentally friendly and resource-conserving and living materials that produce a healthy indoor atmosphere. Architect Niklaus Bucher is convinced that "no harmful substances should be used where people are present". He is just as convinced today as he was six years ago when he was one of the first to use ADLER's ecological wood oil Lignovit Terra for the Wittenbach church centre project. A decision he has never regretted – and which has made him a pioneer in the industry.

Healthy!

Cheerful, pastel shades dominate the centre of the Protestant Reformed church congregation Tablat-St. Gallen in Wittenbach, Switzerland, which the architect from the firm Bucher Architekt BSA designed back in 2015. Both outside and inside! Because the wood oil, which is produced without chemical wood preservatives, solvents or plasticisers, can also be used indoors without hesitation. Today, almost six years after the opening, the colourful surfaces still look as beautiful as they did on the very first day. No wonder Niklaus Bucher has used Lignovit Terra time and again in other projects. "There is no other comparable product on the market," the architect emphasises.

Colourful!

However, Lignovit Terra is not only in great demand for timber formwork, timber cladding, wall and ceiling elements for interior and exterior use, but is also invaluable for playground equipment manufacturers, to name but one example. "We love using ADLER's ecological wood oil to add colour to our creative play elements made of robinia wood," says Janko Helmschmidt, founder of Janko Spielgeräte GmbH. Playhouses, climbing frames, obstacle courses that give children the freedom to explore their natural urge to move – chemical wood preservatives have no place here! Even without these additives, Lignovit Terra manages to provide the wood with sustainable protection against water damage and to give it a velvety matt, beautiful colour. In a recent project in Engstingen, Baden-Württemberg, Helmschmidt furnished a cool playground dragon with green and red wings.

An environmental conscience!

Colourful, healthy – but that's not all: those who opt for the Baubook-compliant coating from ADLER get even more for their money when it comes to environmental protection as the product is made from natural raw materials and is therefore also Cradle to Cradle certified. By using Lignovit Terra, users conserve valuable resources – another good reason for the healthy colour!
